Derby Children's Rights Service

two young people

The Children's Rights Service offers free independent, confidential support to all looked after children and young people from Derby City - no matter where you are living.

An advocate will help you express your wishes and feelings, help you prepare for meetings and help you understand your Human Rights. Your advocate can liaise with services on your behalf, help you make a complaint if you wish and attend your reviews or other meetings if you request it. We follow the National standards for the provision of Children's Advocacy services, so you are always in control of the partnership. You choose whether you would like the support of an advocate and may contact us directly by telephone, text or email.

We also provide Independent Visitors who are volunteers. They meet with young people monthly to engage in activities of their choice, like going to the cinema. Please ask your social worker about our services or contact us for more information. The minimum age is 4 and the maximum age is 25.
