change, grow, live – health and social care charity

Why choose CGL?

At CGL we genuinely care about the wellbeing and development of our staff. Below are some of the schemes that will be available to you as a CGL employee:

Health, Wellbeing and Development Hour

As a paid member of staff at CGL, you are entitled to take an hour out of every week for an activity that promotes your health, wellbeing or development.

“I feel I have greatly benefited from my wellbeing hour. I have used it to attend the gym, attend personal trainer sessions, being able to take the dog on a long relaxing walk to Derwent or the woods which I would not have the time for previously.”

Mentoring for success

Whatever stage you are at in your career, you can benefit from CGL’s employee mentoring scheme to help you realise your potential and move forward in your careers.

“[Following my mentoring] I am starting to find freedom and in the workplace I think I am performing like I have never performed before. I still have stuff to work on but I have the courage and direction to do it.”

- Louise, National Implementation Coordinator

Generally a mentoring relationship will last around three months, with one face-to-face meeting per month and additional phone and email support as agreed.

Mediation scheme

CGL can provide in house trained mediators to help effectively resolve certain employee relations issues in the workplace.

When asked about their experience of the CGL mediation service, 87% of participants said they thought their mediation had been successful.

“Both mediators were very professional and fair. They explained the process clearly and concisely which helped with a positive outcome. I would definitely recommend the mediation service. Thanks for all your support.”

Employee assistance programme (EAP)

Life presents many challenges which can make it difficult to lead a balanced and productive life both at home and at work. The EAP is designed to help you acquire the skills to deal with such problems.

As a CGL employee you have access to telephone counselling, face to face counselling, telephone legal information and general telephone advice.
