Management and supervision

You will have regular supervision during your 6 month probationary period to address any issues or concerns, followed by monthly supervision thereafter. Supervision is a dynamic two-way process and is based on a shared agenda to ensure that issues and needs are addressed and resolved.

We have developed a suite of online wellbeing resources which you can use to create a personalised wellbeing plan to help you achieve healthy life goals relating to stress management, fitness and exercise, weight management and healthy eating.

Wellbeing hour

You can also take an hour out of your work each week to pursue an activity to improve your health, wellbeing or personal development.

Mentoring for success
Whatever stage you are at in your career, you can benefit from our employee mentoring scheme. This provides one-to-one career development support to help you realise your potential and move forward in your career.

We are developing a specific mentoring programme for BAME staff and also a mentoring programme to support women’s leadership development.

Generally a mentoring relationship will last around three months, with one face-to-face meeting per month and additional phone and email support as agreed.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Programme is designed to help staff acquire the skills and resilience to deal with the many challenges of day-to-day life and work. Support includes access to telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling, telephone legal information and general telephone advice.

Mediation scheme
Everyone has a line manager who supports them in all aspects of their working life. We also offer in-house trained mediators who can help resolve certain employee relations issues which cannot be resolved through line management

When asked about their experience of the CGL mediation service, 87% of participants said they thought their mediation had been successful.
