Luton Recovery Alliance
Community Led Initiatives (CLI) is the lived experience recovery organisation (LERO) within the Luton Recovery Alliance. We provide compassionate, community-based support in one-to-one mentoring sessions for people who have experienced addiction, helping individuals with the transition from structured treatment and build fulfilling lives.
Our team brings understanding and empathy to every interaction, offering peer mentoring, groups timetable, practical guidance and opportunities to reconnect with the community.
Recovery looks different for everyone, which is why we work with each person to understand their goals and provide tailored support that meets their individual needs. Whether you're looking to build confidence, improve your wellbeing, develop new skills, access volunteering or employment opportunities, or strengthen your support network, we're here to help you take the next step.

Support we offer
Mentoring
Our one-to-one mentoring programme provides personalised support for anywhere between 3–9 months. Mentors work alongside each person to create an individual action plan, helping them achieve their goals, build independence, advocate for themselves, and reconnect with their communities. This could include, advocating at mental health appointment, relapse prevention support, daily routine planning, access to community groups and more. People accessing mentoring are also encouraged to attend groups and explore volunteering opportunities as part of their recovery journey.
Groups
We offer a range of peer-led groups each week, providing ongoing recovery support in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Groups can be attended as needed, with regular check-ins to help people stay connected and continue their recovery journey.
Volunteering
Our service supports people affected by substance use to build positive, lasting change through personalised support, recovery-focused activities, and connections to their local community. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and particularly encourage people with lived experience of substance use and recovery, offending, homelessness, or mental health challenges to apply.
Volunteer mentors need to be able to offer 4-6 hours a week for a minimum period of 6 months, Monday to Friday during the hours between 9.00am to 5.00pm to help their mentee set and achieve personal goals and positive change. We also welcome volunteers interested in supporting our groups and recovery community activities.
If you would like to join our volunteer team, please complete our volunteer application form and we will be in touch as soon as possible. CLI Volunteer Form
