Legal support (with Release)
Through Horizon, you can access free, confidential legal advice from Release, a national charity specialising in drug-related legal support.
We understand that issues like housing, debt, or benefits can make recovery harder. This service helps you deal with those challenges so you can focus on moving forward.
What you can expect:
- Regular appointments with a dedicated legal advisor
- Ongoing support based on your needs
- Advice on issues such as housing, finances, and welfare benefits
Appointments usually take place within Horizon services, so you can access support in a familiar and comfortable environment.
After your first appointment, Release will continue to support you directly throughout your case.

Support for people leaving prison
Our Prison Leavers Project is delivered by Empowerment and supports people returning to Blackpool after time in prison.
We know that leaving prison can feel overwhelming. That’s why we begin working with the people we support before their release, helping to prepare for life outside. On the day people leave, we can meet them at the gate and continue supporting them as they settle back into the community.
Our Lived Experience Navigators understand these challenges first-hand. They can help with appointments, accessing any support that may be needed, and providing ongoing encouragement and support.
Our aim is to help people leaving prison to feel more confident, reduce the risk of re-offending, and build a more stable future.
