Black Country FDAC
Frequently Asked Questions
FDAC offers an alternative approach to your parenting assessment. We assess and identify your needs and support you through the care proceedings process. If the care proceedings are in court, we will also support you to meet the judges every two weeks in what we call a non-lawyer review.
FDAC is here to help you achieve your goal of becoming drug and alcohol free, develop skills to better manage your emotional wellbeing, and strengthen your parenting skills to reach the best outcome for you and your family. This is achieved through a programme that will include weekly one to one appointments and workshops as well as weekly planned and unplanned drug screenings.
No, we support you with any issues you may be facing alongside substance misuse. This can include parenting, mental health, domestic abuse and budgeting amongst other things. We’ll work with you to identify your needs and find the solutions that are right for you.
We are an independent service and not part of social services. You will have been referred to us by your social worker, and you meet with us first to see if FDAC is right for you. If our service is right for your needs, we’ll provide regular updates on your progress to social services, children’s guardians, and the courts.
