If you want to reduce smoking and improve health in your community, we can help. We offer free training to healthcare professionals and employers, and you can refer people to our service for help.

Book free stop smoking training sessions

    • Session duration: 2 hours

    Level 1 – Brief Intervention Training - Hull

    Designed for professionals and carers who interact with smokers and/or their families.

    This 120-minute workshop gives you information about the harmful effects of smoking and the benefits of quitting.

    It also gives you advice on talking to people about their smoking and referring them to specialist services. It is designed with you in mind, to help you, help others.

    Training is currently provided via MS Teams, however dedicated group face-to-face sessions can also be arranged. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

    A yearly refresher is not required but it is recommended that the VBA Video is watched annually.

    Very Brief Advice Training (VBA) – Hull

    You’ll learn easily accessible information about stopping smoking. For Hull residents and employers.

    This is a 60- minute workshop that will equip you with Basic knowledge in smoking cessation and referral pathways, suitable for all Hull residents and businesses who wish to assist in improving employee health. Show others that you care.

    • Session duration: 4 hours (13 total training hours)

    Level 2 - Community Adviser Training - Hull

    Designed for professionals working with smokers and/or their families, including community volunteers and groups.

    This 4-hour workshop is aimed at people who want to become an organisation or community smoking cessation ‘Champion’.

    By the end of the session, you’ll become an ‘expert’ in the treatment options, resources available, and how to encourage and support someone to quit or support others, to support others, to quit.

    When you've completed the course, you will be qualified to provide one-to-one stop smoking support and advice to an intermediate level. What a great way to help others!

    Supported Pharmacotherapy Training - Hull

    Designed for Pharmacists and pharmacy staff.

    This 4-hour workshop helps you understand the health conditions associated with smoking and supports you to deliver brief interventions alongside pharmacotherapies.

    Tailored for pharmacy staff with a focus on one-to-one stop smoking support and PharmOutcomes support. Adding to your already great knowledge base providing you with further training to help you, help clients who visit the Pharmacy.

    Level 1 – Mental Health Module - Hull

    Designed for healthcare professionals working in the mental health sector.

    This 2.5-hour workshop gives you information about the harmful effects of smoking and the benefits of quitting. Assisting people with mental health problems, helping them when they need it most.

    It also gives you advice on talking to people about their smoking and referring them to specialist services, in particular supporting smokers with identified mental health problems.

    Specialist Smoking in Pregnancy Training - Hull

    Designed for Midwives, doctors, nurses, sonographers, health visitors, healthcare assistants and consultants.

    This 90-minute workshop gives you information about the harmful effects of smoking and the benefits of quitting when working with pregnant women and families. Adding to your wealth of knowledge to assist you in providing that extra level of care at such an important part of mothers and their families' lives. This could be life-changing for them in the best possible way.
