Emma Sharp-Lau, a representative from SMART Recovery, has visited us at The Beacon. She met our participants in the SMART Recovery programme to offer support and guidance.
Emma shared valuable insights and tips on how to overcome addiction and maintain sobriety. She also gave our SMART Recovery members a chance to become SMART Recovery volunteer leaders for those who are looking to help others as well.
Emma's visit was greatly appreciated by our group and staff. Her knowledge and expertise in the field of addiction recovery were invaluable, and her commitment to helping others was inspiring. We are grateful for her time and the positive impact she had on our community.
Following her visit, Emma said:
"What I witnessed was truly heart-warming; the participants of the meeting displayed resilience, bravery and such empathy for each other that the support they shared was palpable.
A number of times during the meeting I felt deeply moved to see how they lifted each other up and displayed genuine joy at the incredible progress each was making with their recovery journey.
All of the staff I met at The Beacon showed passion for their roles and for the people they’re supporting. I was particularly impressed with Ian Costello and Steve Webb. They are huge advocates for SMART Recovery and clearly committed to reaching even more people.
I left The Beacon feeling uplifted, inspired and so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with such wonderful humans. Thank you for making me so welcome and for all you do on a daily basis."
