The Corner - Sheffield

Amethyst – Young Person’s Resilience Worker (Youth Justice Lead)
Hiya. My name is Amethyst, and I’m a Young Person’s Resilience Worker at The Corner.
As part of my role I work with the Youth Justice team to help support young people involved in the justice system. I enjoy my job working with so many different young people, giving them support and guidance and learning more about them.
Supporting young people has always been a passion of mine – from volunteering to have young people’s voices heard by professionals and services, to then working in a psychiatric hospital and ensuring the patients voices were heard.
In my down time I love crocheting, playing video games, watching crime documentaries and anime, which you can tell as I have a full anime and game tattoo sleeve.

Brad – Targeted Interventions Co-Ordinator
Ey up, my name is Brad. I’m the Targeted Interventions Coordinator - which is a fancy way of saying I deliver groupwork sessions and also deliver training to professionals around drug use and supporting young people.
When I’m not at work you’ll probably find me out in the Peak District walking, climbing or camping. If I’m not there – I’m probably watching live music or comedy.
I love my role as I like to be able to help young people navigate their lives.

Gemma – Volunteer, Student & Peer Mentor Coordinator
Hi, I’m Gemma, the Volunteer Coordinator at The Corner. I’m lucky to work with an incredible team of people and have the privilege of supporting our amazing volunteers who play such a big part in what we do. I love being part of a role that’s all about people and community.
Outside of work, I’m a big fan of watching Korean dramas and I can get easily hooked on a good storyline. I also enjoy getting out for long walks, especially when the weather is nice and I love spending quality time with my friends and family.

James – Young Person’s Resilience Worker (Education Lead)
I’m James and I’m the Education Lead for The Corner. My role allows me to work with secondary schools in Sheffield to build our relationship with them.
We work together to try to ensure that every secondary pupil in Sheffield has seen an assembly delivered by a member of The Corner team.
We also work with schools to provide training for staff, parent consultation sessions and small group work on drugs and alcohol.

Jess – Young Person’s Resilience Worker (Communities Lead)
Hi, I’m Jess. I am a Young Persons Resilience Worker here at The Corner, and I am also the Community Lead for our service.
I support young people by giving them harm reduction advice on drugs and alcohol and help them to make positive changes to their lives through a person-centred, non-judgemental approach.
My community lead role allows me to build relationships and links with the wider community, such as Youth Centres, local Mosques and Community Centres, to raise awareness on drugs and alcohol and to explain how our service supports young people using them. We also provide signposting to other support and give information and advice.
Outside of work I love going to gigs, eating good food and spending time with family and friends!

Kelly – Cluster Manager
Hi, I’m Kelly, and I’m the Cluster Manager of Sheffield and Derbyshire Children and young people services. I have spent a lifetime working in various management roles covering probation, youth offending, and custody, and previously managed Change Grow Live’s Children’s Rights services.
Any free time I get, I like to carry out my hobbies such as walking my 2 dogs (I have a German Shepherd called Bella & a Staffy called Daisy) or riding my 2 horses (Treacle & Ralph). I also like to go away, especially for a weekend to Whitby or to Westward Ho in Devon to enjoy the sunshine.
