New Health and Wellbeing hub launches in Birmingham

We have launched our new Health and Wellbeing hub in Birmingham city centre. On Wednesday 2nd March, we invited guests from Birmingham City Council, the Rough Sleeper Initiative, and more, to take a look around.

The new hub will provide multidisciplinary care and support packages to rough sleepers, those at risk of rough sleeping and those moving onto long-acting buprenorphine (Buvidal), all under one roof.

Having prescribers, nurses and recovery staff working together will ensure that appropriate support is available to those that need it most.

The hub has space for staff from other organisations to work in, so will continue and strengthen the great partnership working we already foster in Birmingham.

"I am looking forward to seeing the work we deliver from the hub grow. We are already investing in further staff development so that we can expand our offer to support longer-term recovery and next-step options." - Tanya M., Services Manager for the Health and Wellbeing hub

Reflections from our Buvidal team

"We prescribe Buvidal to people who are homeless, those who have resistance to treatment for substance use, and people experiencing complex support needs.

The hub has made an immediate positive impact on people that use our service. From staff all being in one centralised location to share expertise and knowledge, to people being able to access the multiple services they want all in one appointment visit. People have mentioned how welcoming staff have made them feel, and that they feel as if they are a focus and a priority from the moment, they set foot in the building." - Ollie, a Recovery Coordinator on the Buvidal team

Thoughts from our Homeless and Rough Sleeper team

"We are happy to have a new city centre hub, so we can bring people in and assess their needs fully.

Our Rough Sleepers team deliver services to contribute towards the Birmingham Ending Rough Sleeping plan to prevent people from sleeping rough for the first time. We also support those currently sleeping rough, to move off the streets and those who have slept rough to ensure they do not return to the streets. Our team focus on rough sleepers experiencing substance misuse addiction." - Chardine, the Homeless and Rough Sleeper team Project Lead

Thank you to everyone who supported the launch of our new hub!
