Expanding our Norfolk service's offer to meet demand in Great Yarmouth
Our Great Yarmouth office in Norfolk now has a Lithuanian Pod. Started by demand in the area, staff have started to deliver this pod to the Lithuanian community in Great Yarmouth. Numbers have been promising, especially as this is in its infancy, however, there is a close-knit community that is mutually supportive, and keen to enter treatment together.
The pod looks to cover anything from harm minimisation advice such as Take Home Naloxone and safer injecting practice, to cycles of change, managing and addressing triggers, cravings and the pros and cons of using.
This pod session runs every other Friday at 2pm. Service users who would like to attend are referred directly into the pod at assessment, and if someone is already in treatment, and is interested, they can then be referred in at a later stage with support from their keyworker. Our Outreach and Engagement Workers are also actively looking to engage any eligible potential service users across the area, including with the street homeless population in the town.
We are working alongside Capita to provide the same interpreter for these sessions, further building on the continuity of the service, and to provide consistency to those accessing the groups.
This has been so successful, there are plans to introduce these sessions in other areas of the county, dependant on need.
If you are a Norfolk service user and you have any suggestions of anything that you would like to see set up in the county, please complete a suggestion form - these are available in all of our sites. Alternatively you can use the feedback form here.
