Somerset Drug & Alcohol Service (SDAS) is an integrated drug and alcohol service offering support and treatment to adults and young people in Somerset.

SDAS comprises of three providers working in partnership to deliver one holistic treatment service. CGL delivers the contact and engagement part of the service.

What we do and how we do it

SDAS offers free, confidential advice and support to anyone whose life is being adversely affected by drug and/or alcohol use.

SDAS is a service for both young people and adults, available at numerous locations throughout Somerset including Bridgwater, Glastonbury, Frome, Taunton, Yeovil and Minehead.

We offer:

  • A range of interventions tailored to meet individuals needs and motivate clients to engage with recovery services at the earliest point
  • Needle exchange and other harm reduction services
  • Testing and vaccination for Blood Borne Virus
  • Brief interventions
  • Outreach to those who need it
  • Group work
  • Individual counselling, therapy and one-to-one work
  • Assertive engagement and re-engagement
  • Support for carers, family members or friends of someone affected  by drug or alcohol use
  • Substitute prescribing
  • Access to detoxification and residential rehabilitation
  • Signposting and referrals to other agencies
  • 24 point of contact
  • Dedicated housing-related support, including supported housing and housing advice
  • Accredited Peer Mentoring scheme

  1. Maltravers House is located next to the Octagon Theatre, follow the signs for the theatre and you’ll find Maltravers House in the Petters Way Car Park.  The nearest train station is Yeovil Pen Mill which is around 25 minutes’ walk.  Yeovil town bus station is about a 10 minute walk from the hub.
  2. Bridge House is served by several local bus routes, the nearest railway station is Bridgwater.  There is a free car park at the back of the building.
  3. The Old Library is served by regular buses from Street and Wells.  There is residential parking available locally and there is St Johns Car Park available within Glastonbury, which is accessible from Northload Street. All parking is within 5 minutes of the Glastonbury Hub. There is no on-site parking or train Station in Glastonbury. The nearest train station is Castle Cary.
  4. Arch House is served by a bus service from Shepton Mallet.  There is residential car parking available at Weymouth Road and Keyford - near Linwood Motors and Domino’s Pizza.  There is a train Station within Frome, which is 20 minutes from the Frome Hub.  There are car parks at the Cheese and Grain and Argos. All of the aforementioned parking is within a 10 minute walk of the Frome Hub.
  5. Unity House isn’t directly served by any bus services but is just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, where the main bus station is situated.  Taunton also has a railway station, which is around a 10 minute walk from the hub.  Car parking is available at the pay and display car park in Canon Street.  There is no free parking.
  6. Irnham Lodge Surgery is on the right hand side opposite the ESSO Service Station.
