We offer a free, open access service for anyone affected by alcohol problems.

We have a friendly team who can provide one-to-one sessions and group work to help empower you to make the changes you need to lead a healthier, safer life.

On a monday, we offer drop-in assessments between 10:00 and 12:00. This means you can simply show up at the service and wait to be seen.

SMART Recovery's 4-Point Program® helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including: alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction, and addiction to other substances and activities. SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is not a 12-step group, like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

On a Wednesday, we offer drop-in assessments between 14:00 - 16:00. This means you can simply show up at the service and wait to be seen.

This group is a 6-session on-going programme. The aim of the group is to learn how to stabilize the amount and pattern of your drinking and make positive changes in your everyday life in order to prepare to come off alcohol. It will also help you to understand better the different ways to come off alcohol, the changes people around you need to make in order to help you and the aftercare options available to aid you towards maintaining your abstinence. 

APG helps people not only to successfully come off alcohol but also to stay abstinent for at least 6 months.

Many drug and alcohol users are motivated to start their recovery journey by hearing and learning from others who have experienced addiction themselves. Talking to people who understand your situation and allowing them to support you can be invaluable on your journey. Peer Support Drop in facilitated by SHP exist to inspire others on their recovery journey, showing that recovery is possible through promoting activities that support a life free from addiction.

An eight week psychology programme developing skills to support complete abstinence from alcohol.  Please book in through your keyworker.

A therapeutic compassion focussed support group to empower women. The objective of group is to provide a safe and confidential and empathic space to explore and gain support with issues specific to women within treatment. Within a shared learning experience women have the opportunity to share and gain support to identify, discuss and achieve solution focussed treatment to improve their mental, physical and emotional well-being.

Your first visit

When you visit the service for the first time, a friendly member of staff will greet you in reception and let your Recovery Worker know that you have arrived for your appointment.

Feel free to bring a friend, family member or support worker if you need them. It's advisable to let us know if you have any extra requirements prior to the appointment.
