Wakefield Young People's Drug & Alcohol Service
This service is a drug and alcohol service for young people aged 18 and under. We provide free, friendly and confidential support if you or some else is worried about your drug and/or alcohol use.
What we do
We offer a wide range of services and support ranging from one off information to longer term support. These include:
- One to one young person centred interventions which identifies risk and protective factors to support change
- Group work sessions for young people which provide education and advice to reduce or prevent the harm associated with drug and alcohol use. These sessions can be delivered Wakefield wide at a place which suits young people. We can also offer bespoke sessions specifically on cannabis, alcohol and Novel Psychoactive Substances. Please get in touch if you want to request group work.
- Specialist training programmes for professionals. We provide training to professionals working with young people to increase confidence in identifying and responding to drug and alcohol issues amongst young people. Please contact us for more information.
- Support for parents and families who are concerned about the drug and alcohol use of a young person. We recognise the importance that family/carers and friends can make to a young person
Make a referral
We can receive referrals from anyone supporting a young person or the young person themselves. It is important that the young person has consented to the referral, as our experience suggests the initial engagement is more positive. If you would like a member of the team to support any initial discussions with the young person about the referral, we would be happy to support this.
You can also complete our referral form in advance and either email it to us at or bring it with you when you visit the service.
Please ring our general number 01924 831114 or Jeanette Owens, Project Manager on 07917200969. Alternatively, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org

We are located in the Prospects office on Cross Street next door to Wakefield Hospice shop and opposite RBS Bank. We are five minutes walk form the bus station and ten minutes from Westgate Rail Station and the main Wakefield College campus. We don’t have a car park, but metered parking is available on the street in front of the building. There is a buzzer system on the door and we will meet you downstairs in reception.
