Change Grow Live are Manchester’s established Drug and Alcohol provider, for adults and young people. As a leading substance misuse provider, we deliver dynamic recovery that celebrates success in prevention, harm reduction and engagement. We hold a passionate belief that recovery from addiction can be self-defined, contagious.
We are looking for 2 Engagement Co-ordinators who will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team at the Manchester service to deliver a high-quality provision that best meets the individual needs of the service users.
The Engagement Co-ordinators will work closely alongside other partner agencies such as health services, hospitals, GPs, service users’ families and significant others, and CGL’s volunteers and mentors.
To engage with people from the under-represented group who have drug and alcohol problems and provide advice, screening and clinical interventions to address their substance misuse issues
Low Intensity PSI – appropriate application of low intensity psycho social interventions including motivational interviewing, ITEP, behavioural activation, EBI’s, guided self help for common mental health disorders and community reinforcement approach, brief interventions and advice for alcohol use.
Be the first point of contact for the treatment system, will offer a triage assessment, and refer into structed treatment if required.
Offering BI and EBI and support drug detoxification where appropriate
Develop specific pathways in to treatment, recognising potential barriers which need to be overcome. Work with local organisations to ensure that issues which are present that prevent engagement with treatment services are understood and that treatment allows service users to be accommodated without fear of prejudice.
To offer advice and support to clients who present for BBV screening, and ensure appropriate referral to specialist services.
Regularly liaise with dispensing pharmacy.
Key requirements for the Engagement Co-ordinator:
Demonstrate an understanding of issues relating to underrepresented groups in drug services and BME communities and their engagement with services
Either a qualification in substance misuse and/ or relevant knowledge
Knowledge of clinical prescribing issues
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing techniques
Knowledge of CBT, Relapse Prevention or Brief Solution focussed therapy
Community based support practices
Ability to form trusting and constructive working relationships in a short space of time
