A rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the Change, Grow, Live’s team in Richmond’s Integrated Recovery Service as a Recovery Worker Volunteer to assist our Recovery Teams in the Richmond Borough

Richmond Integrated Recovery Service is part of the National charity CGL. We support adults of 18 and over, struggling with substance misuse issues within the Richmond Borough. All our clients are provided with an opportunity to enter a treatment system which offers non-judgmental support and specialist knowledge regarding the effects of addiction and offer clear objectives as to how they can work towards a healthier and happier life and look to a brighter future, from engagement, through to treatment, prescribing to aftercare.

As a Recovery Worker Volunteer you have the opportunity to gain a vast amount of experience of the health and social care sector specifically in the substance misuse field. There is a vast opportunity for gaining experience and eventually have accountability for facilitating groups, conducting assessment and supporting our service users in one to one support sessions. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in a career as a Recovery Worker, gaining experience and understanding of the responsibilities of a Recovery Worker and the issues facing substance misusers. If you would like the chance to make a difference to someone’s life and life of someone’s family this is a fantastic opportunity to do so.

All volunteers will receive an in-house training package delivered by our dedicated volunteer coordinator. We also offer all our volunteers access to the same high quality training as our staff as well as ongoing support through supervision.

Volunteering benefits our service users and provides opportunities for individuals to use their existing skills to support our services and also develop new skills to advance their careers. Volunteers bring a range of skills and experience that complement the work we do with our service users including, in some cases, personal experience of the challenges of living with substance misuse or coping with a loved one’s misuse.

CGL are committed to creating an inclusive environment, which celebrates difference and allows our staff and service users to flourish. We recruit the very best staff from a wide range of backgrounds, ensuring service user’s benefit from our diverse skills and expertise. We always work to the principles of fairness and equality of opportunity in all our recruitment processes.

We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice.
