About the service
We are a psychosocial drug treatment service who work with adult males in custody who identify with having substance misuse issues.
We support them in their recovery both in custody and transition back into the community.
What we do and how we do it
The Pathways to Recovery team in HMP Belmarsh supports clients to tackle their drug and alcohol use, reduce reoffending and lead healthier lives.
Pathways delivers structured treatment through the innovative Foundations to Recovery model, which aims to build on recovery capital and explores their reasons and motivations to change their current behaviors.
We run an Alcohol Intervention Programme that addresses problematic drinking and aims to reduce the levels of harm associated with this behavior.
The team includes a specialist family worker who addresses the impact of imprisonment and offending on family relationships.
We also have an accredited Peer Mentor Scheme where mentors offer clients peer support within custody.
The Pathways to Recovery service is enhanced by weekly mutual aid sessions whereby individuals can gain support from the fellowship of others who share their experiences and are working to achieve common goals, such as abstinence.
