“I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to play an integral role in supporting the recovery and rehabilitation agenda within the DART (drug and alcohol recovery team) service at the north east prisons.
My new role will be working with the DART teams, service users and partners to strengthen and develop the service provision across the north east prison sites.
My aim is to increase service user involvement, empower staff to achieve excellent engagement and support all seven sites with service innovation.
I will be supporting staff to ensure that Change Grow Live values are embedded and reflected in their working practice and we are continually reviewing the recovery culture.
The purpose of this role is also to support the prison establishments in creating and developing recovery communities in a prison setting, making sure that service users are provided with the same recovery treatment as their peers in community settings. It’s about making sure that recovery is visible and tangible in a prison. Where there are barriers I’ll work with team leaders to remove them. I’ll bring ideas to the table and encourage ideas back as well. All DART teams and myself are focused on the individuals we work with and supporting them to achieve and sustain progress in their recovery.”
