Senior Practitioner

“I used to work in the motor trade. I had my own business and I also played professional rugby union. As I got towards the end of my career in the motor trade and the end of my career in rugby union, due to various injuries, I decided to do a counselling course. It changed everything - it opened my life up and I started seeing everything differently. I’m now a Senior Practitioner with CGL, so I see clients on a daily basis and also have various management responsibilities. I enjoy working with people, whether it’s clients or colleagues. It doesn’t really feel like work to me - it’s a pleasure, getting to sit and talk with people, hearing them share their lives and having a positive influence. Even when there are changes going on, you always learn something from it. When you come into our service you are talking to people who genuinely care about service users doing well. This isn’t just a job for them, they’re not doing it for the money - they really care.”
