Team Leader

“I’m a qualified printer by trade, but I started as a volunteer for a drug and alcohol treatment centre in Bournemouth nearly eight years ago. The manager there saw something in me, so I started to increase my volunteering days, then became a project support worker. I had such a positive experience that I decided to go back to college and re-educate myself within the social care field. Looking back, I had some really good support in place as a volunteer and I try to draw on that in my current role. After working for various other providers in senior roles across the South West, an opportunity came up for a team leader role with CGL. I took the leap of faith and was successful in the interview process. I have now been with CGL for two and a half years. I am currently the quality lead in Southampton, and hoping to progress to a Service Manager role once the right opportunity arises. CGL really invests in its staff, so I think I have a good chance! Every decision I make is for the greater good - ultimately for the service user. I’m a firm believer that anybody who is accepting of change can go on and lead a productive life given the right kind of support. At CGL we will always do our best to make you feel welcome, listen to your support needs, and help guide you through that early engagement into treatment. Just give it a go. Have the faith and courage to walk through the door.”
