New support service in Cambridgeshire for people affected by drug or alcohol misuse
We are pleased to announce that we have been commissioned in Cambridgeshire to deliver the adult substance misuse treatment service from 1 October 2018.
We will operate from hubs and community satellites across the region, including Cambridge, Huntingdon and Wisbech. The contract will ultimately allow the drug and alcohol charity to bring its proven service model to the local communities of Cambridgeshire, making support more accessible for those in need and removing the stigma of substance misuse issues.
The charity aims to support individuals to achieve long-term positive change by offering support to improve health and well-being through psychological treatment, a dedicated web page that will include webchat and online referrals, a committed criminal justice provision and dedicated Recovery Coordinators who work with people to tackle alcohol and substance misuse, together with pharmacy services coordinated by Lloyds Pharmacy across Cambridgeshire.
The service model draws on experience in delivering services in large counties with an urban and rural mix.
Cllr Peter Hudson, Health Committee chairman at Cambridgeshire County Council, said:
"Our public health team has been working closely with service users, their families and key partners within health, social care, housing, employment and the criminal justice system over the past few months to develop a new Drug and Alcohol treatment service for Cambridgeshire. We are really pleased that CGL will be taking over the service, their innovative model of treatment provision means anyone experiencing drug and alcohol substance misuse in the county is able to access the support they need as quickly and easily as possible."
Vicki Markiewicz, Director at Change Grow Live, said:
"We are pleased to bring our drug and alcohol support services to those affected by drug and alcohol misuse across Cambridgeshire. We are looking forward to working with existing pharmacies and innovative GP-shared care provision across Cambridgeshire."
"It is really important that anyone experiencing drug and alcohol substance misuse in the region is able to access the support they need as quickly and easily as possible. We shall focus on tailoring our services to provide individualised support and help to support and transform the lives of people affected by drug and alcohol problems. We have a real commitment and passion to work in the region and bring positive change."
