New Directions - Bradford

Welcome Groups

If you would like to access treatment with New Directions, the first step is usually to attend one of our Welcome Sessions. In this session you’ll be advised about what treatment and support is available to you. You will complete a triage, and leave the session with a date for your first one to one appointment. There is no need to book a welcome session, you can just turn up on the day. Please arrive a few minutes before the start time as the session cannot be interrupted after it begins. We offer a number of different welcome sessions to suit different needs. Please check this information carefully as your treatment may be delayed if you attend the wrong one.

Which group should I attend?

"I’m a heroin user and want to access your service. My drug of choice is heroin, but I might also use other drugs."

You should attend an Opiate Welcome Group. Please see below for session times.

"I drink alcohol and I want to access your service. I might use other drugs, but my main substance misuse is alcohol."

You should attend an Alcohol Welcome Group. Please see below for session times.

"My drug of choice isn’t heroin or alcohol and I want to access your service. I use crack, cocaine, cannabis, legal highs, over the counter medication, prescribed medication, or any other substances."

Please call us if your drug of choice is anything other than heroin or alcohol and we will advise you on how to access treatment with New Directions.

We will usually complete a triage with you by phone, and someone will call you back with your first one to one appointment time. Please call the Single Point Of Contact on 01274 296 023.

If you use heroin alongside any of these drugs please attend an opiate welcome group.

"I want to access your service but I still don’t know which session to attend."

If you’re still unsure about which welcome session to attend, please call the Single Point Of Contact  on 01274 296023.

"I’m a professional and want to refer my client for treatment."

Please advise your client to attend the relevant welcome session. You can call us on 01274 296023 if you’re unsure, if you need to share information with us in advance of the welcome session, or if your client is unable to attend a welcome session.

"I’m a substance misuse professional and wish to transfer a client who is already receiving treatment from a substance misuse service"

Please call us on 01274 296023 if would like to transfer a client into New Directions services.

"I’m worried about substance misuse by a friend, relative or other loved one. I need advice and support."
